About the Edinburgh Network
The Edinburgh and Beyond Home Education Online Network is a loose association of families involved in alternative education outside of school. Call it what you like - home education, real world learning, free range education - we have lots of approaches and we meet in lots of different places to learn and play together. There is almost certainly something for everyone - and if not, the online network can help you start up something new.
It can be daunting trying to provide a rich, fulfilling, nurturing environment for our children all on our own. It's much more fun together!
Current activities include:
- large group outings and activities in and around Edinburgh. These happen twice a month on a Thursday and can include trips to museums, crafts, storytelling, picnics, dance, games…
- smaller groups meeting regularly for singing, sewing, swimming or
socialising
- more local groups in and around Edinburgh (for example in
Falkirk,
North Queensferry, Borders and West Edinburgh)
- a parents support group
- a home education co-operative for sharing and swapping skills and interests (due to start later in 2009)
